While mega corporate investors are flipping properties and driving up costs, our neighbors can’t afford to stay in our town. It’s time to create permanently affordable housing for renters. Let’s also make sure families can afford their first, not watch corporations buy their thousandth.

Our city spends more on trip and fall lawsuits than we do on repairing our sidewalks. City Hall has let our streets fall into disrepair, with the most severe crashes concentrated in our district. My time in city council will be measured by potholes filled, lights repaired, and streets cleaned.

We have 4,000 budgeted positions in Oakland. Only 3,000 are filled due to mismanagement. These include paving crews, street ambassadors, and crossing guards. I will fight for these jobs to be advertised and filled so we can get 1,000 of our neighbors hired.

Our community deserves accountability and community trust. I will implement community-led governance by ensuring residents and communities set policy priorities and releasing public records. To address the fiscal crisis, I will fully staff community oversight boards to monitor spending transparently and I will work to end the Port of Oakland's role in shipping arms to conflict zones.
